Tim Walsh Salon's step by step Japanese Thermal Straightening / Reconditioning
guide aka Japanese Straight Perm
1. Highlighted on top/ Natural color underneath |
2. After applying the porosity equalizer
to the highlighted area, section the hair into quarters and begin
applying the straightening solution. |
3. Apply it on the chemically untreated
hair first. Apply the solution 1/2
inch to 3/4 of an inch from the scalp. (***note) |
4. Apply the straightening solution
to the sides. I protected Lisa's ears with foil. |
5. Test it to see if the hair trys to unwind.
The product recommends leaving the solution on no more than 15 minutes.
(*note) |
6. Rinse (don't
shampoo) the hair out, dry it
taking out 80-95% of the moisture and then begin straightening
it with a ceramic hot iron set to high.
|
7. Take 1/8 - 3/8th inch sections. This
is the most time consuming part of the process. |
8. Then straighten the sides |
9. Once it is completely straightened
apply the neutralizer by taking 3/4 inch sections. (**Note) |
10. Process for 15 minutes and then
rinse completely and apply leave-in conditioner. (
no shampooing) |
11. Thermally reconditioned hair dryed
using my hands and using no products. |
12. Easy to comb-out, straight and
silky. |
